San Marcos, California-based Diamond Environmental Services provides multi environmental services to all of Southern California, including pumping and porta-potty, temporary fence, temporary power, emergency services, dumpsters and storage rentals, employing over 375 workers. With California being hit very hard by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the Governor has called for a statewide lock down. Diamond Environmental Services has announced they will be remaining open as an essential services provider while being sure to take the situation extremely serious and using all Covid-19 recommended sanitizing precautions.

“While the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation is rapidly evolving day by day, we want to assure you that Diamond Environmental Services is being proactive in preparing for these difficult moments and is fully committed to the health and safety of our clients, employees, vendors and communities,” commented Alex Fortunati, CEO of the company. “County authorities have defined our sanitation services as essential, so we are working tirelessly to satisfy our customers. We consult daily with local, State and Federal authorities as well with CDC (Center for Disease Control) and WHO (World Health Organization) and constantly inform our workforce of any new developments that will help and assist everyone.”

Alex’ full statement on COVID-19 can be read here.

To face this crisis, Diamond has started its own sanitizing program that includes multiple steps to keep employees, clients and communities safe. For example, since commercial wipes are no longer available due to low stock nationwide, Diamond has developed its own germ wipes for the sanitation industry which are saturated in a Center for Disease Control (CDC) – approved germ killer solution that kills both COVID-19 and HEP-A. The result is a germ-killing saturated paper towel that is pulled out of a bucket similar to Clorox wipes. These wipes are now part of all drivers’ standard equipment. Drivers do not only use these germ wipe towels as a final wipe down of all contact points on customer units, but also to keep their trucks and hands clean.

In addition to gloves, drivers are provided with two cotton face masks to provide protection, rather than buying the valuable N95 face-masks away from medical workers. One mask is worn while the second is disinfected. They serve as a splash guard to protect workers, customers and others.

Finally, the company has provided for part of the staff to work from home if they are able to. In Diamond offices, a cleaning crew works relentlessly to keep high traffic areas like phones, desks, door knobs and doors clean with disinfectants to help prevent transmission.
